Most of the time it is not possible to pay the original creditor. Once the account is charged off and either assigned or sold to a CA, they cannot legally take money for it. If your account did not charge off, then I can see it working for you, but I fail to understand why the CA is bothering you if they don't have the account. Something is fishy. There is never any reason to pay a CA and why would you if you are paying the OC? And, if the OC has the account, the CA can't sue you.
