First of all, there is a lot of psychology in debt collection. Lies and threats are common tools used in debt collection. Mostly hot air. Don't believe anything a CA tells you. He will say just about anything to scare you or make you feel guilty. Whatever he thinks will work in your case.........he'll try it.

The OC can sue when the debt goes deliquent. I never hear of this happening though. CAs can sue if they bought the debt. I THINK that if a CA is assigned a debt, then he would recommend to the OC that they sue if there was reason to believe that they could get and collect on a judgement, and the consumer won't pay voluntarily. Just my 2 cents
