Doot-flies who stole my elderly relative's estate fought like crazy to not give up papers signed years ago. Why? They contained genuine signatures, not forgeries the made since. Old papers can be used as a reference.
Standard trick, call authentic signature a forgery. Puts victim on the spot, allows lowlife criminals to forge signatures with impunity. Until they're caught. And they're caught. Isn't that right, Mr. Gleetzo? I digress.
