Does GMAC ever settle?

We had a leased car with GMAC that we turned in a few months early and still owe about $5000 on it. It has been about a year and a half since we turned it in and we got a statement a few times from GMAC but they show it as charged off now. Does anyone know if they will settle for less and show it as paid in full?
