When was the last time you paid the original creditor before the account became deliquent? Is the Plaintiff Chase Bank? What state are you in? Sounds like you are judgement proof. But, you do not want them to get a judgement against you. Once they get a judgement they can garnish wages (not yours) seize property and bank accounts. You are right to protect your banking, and yes, might be a good idea to use cash and money orders for awhile.

I assume this account is within the SOL for your state. You never want to acknowledge that this account is actually yours, and you don't want to lie to the court either.
