My husband and I had our hearts set on getting a house this year. We diligently worked on increasing our credit scores to get the best possible interest rates only to find out when we applied for a loan that my husband has a judgement against him in California from an apartment complex for unpaid rent, etc. Actually, he is only one of four people it is against. He didn't even have his name on the lease. The funny thing is he hadn't lived in this apartment for OVER A YEAR when the non-payment of rent became an issue and this situation arose. The papers were served at the apartment in question and we were never notified (we live in TX). If we had known and could have shown up in court we wouldn't have this problem. Do you know anything about the Statute of Limitations in California? Do you have any advice? We were hoping to be in our own home by now. I feel absolutely devastated. HELP !!!!!
