I have just cleared out four accounts from my husband's credit report that were not his. They were his father. One of the credit bureaus deleted the account, and this collection agency still knowing that they had the wrong guy (I proved our case), just went right ahead and listed the account with another credit bureau. So I am going to have to dispute it, prove my case all over again.

Why do they do this? They are too lazy to realize that they made a mistake and fix it. Or more likely since they probably paid a penny for it, they can't bear to throw that penny away. So they will hold on to this account.

Yes it lowers my husband's score but not to the point of damage. It is a collection account. He has just been preapproved by three different mortgage companies for a home loan and they just ignored that collection account. If it is not going to bother them, it is not going to bother us.
