can one of the debtors help me to understand why just because a oca buys a debt for less then what is owed does that make the debtor think they dont owe as much as what they owed before it was bought????>Debt Collector

The debtor and creditor agreed to do business with each other, the junk debt buyer isn't a party to the original contract. Can the debtor sell that credit card to a third party and remove themselves as the responsible party to pay the debt? This would be the equivalant situation, not purchases made with the credit card or buying a new car.
