If the account is still with the original creditor, then it is a good idea to ask for a hardship plan. After charge off, there's just no point. DON'T TALK TO CAs. It is pointless, can do nothing good for you, will cause you a lot of stress. I IGNORED THEM WHEN I COULD NO LONGER PAY. After accident, I had 13 charge offs and could not pay. I actually put my phone on fax for awhile. Later, I watched caller ID. I did not know much while all this was happening, but my instincts were right on. I did get sued by one CA in the end, so I follwed by plan and filed bk immediately. ( I never even spoke to the CA that sued) I think I handled the situation pretty well, and by not speaking to the CAs I saved myself a lot of stress. I did not accidently give them information, and I did not piss them off either. I have said this all many times before, but for those of you who are just starting your plight with the CAs, I think this is a good story. Only sued by 1 of 13, reduced stress by not talking to them. Was prepard to be sued. Good Luck to all of you.
