Homestead exemptions in Kentucky are not great, but they you are looking at the home value at sheriff's sale, and that would be a lot less than fair market value. So, I would say the attorney is probably correct. I will give you a link to Kentucky exemptions and you can check them and and ask your attorney more specific questions about the house.
