If your past credit history is bad, you may have to suck up the bad interest rates for a while. Accounts that are paid in full still report the delinquency status, but a zero balance. A Visa with a low credit limit, used only for stuff you can payoff at the end of the month (so you don't actually pay the high interest rate), would re-establish your credit.
