The guy lied to you and you want to give him your check payment. Tell him you never authorize check payments over the phone and that the only way you will pay him is by a money mail, certified mail, registered reciept requested with full complete name and address. No offense here, but the archives of this board are full of stories where a person gives them the authority to do a bank check over the phone and they not only take the money but they raid the account and take above and beyond the amount. If you don't have the verbal agreement in writing, they are free to do whatever they want from your checking account and you can't prove that the settlement was only for $1000. Get his offer in writing. Then do a money order, certified mail, return receipt requested. No other solution. Never trust someone who lied to you. Drew
