Paying a collection agency is like handing your housekeys to a thief. Never, ever, pay these predatory lying scumbags one penny.
Account's been sold three times? That's an admission that they have no hope of collecting.
Paying is worse for your credit report than disputing and waiting them out. Pay them, they trash your credit forever. Next, they sell account to another thug, even though you 'paid in full'. This jerk starts the fun all over again.
The 'collections skindustry' is a putrid, festering, lesion on the face of business. They are worthless liars who con and extort money from consumers, who owe them nothing. CA revenues finance wonderful things. Crack 'n comfort-boy binges by CA owners, money laundering, dope, and, yes, reportedly terrorist activities. Nice crowd.
You are judgement proof, but you don't want them getting a judgement. Have you actually been served by a sheriff? Or did these psycho-rats send you some official looking poop-sheet in the mail? If so, report to postal inspectors - that's mail fraud. Report them to FTC.
If you are being sued, answer it. To each 'count' against you, plead 'Lack Knowledge'. If they respond with Interogatories, in most cases you can answer in the same way.
Collection-swine sue knowing people don't know their rights, don't realize burden of proof is on the collector, and fear going to court. These punks know most suits go unanswered, resulting in default judgement.
Answering a suit can stop predatory cretin CA's the same way locking your door stops thieves. CA's are money-crazed morons. Their alleged 'lawyers' are stupid, greaszeball, losers whose legal skills are so regressed they can't even rate as ambulance chasers. The more you answer their filings, the more you resist their attacks, the more likely they are to go away.
Picture them as bullies, because they are. Show fear to a bully, he gets his way at your expense. Stare down these posturing-pimps, punch back, they'll go a' runnin'. Wee wee wee, alla way home, crying like a bully. Back to Mama, with a big, dark, damp spot on the front of their cheap, polyester suits. File complaints with FTC, BBB, AG, and yeah, Bar Association. They add up. One little, snivelling, crack-freak poofter had my family and I literally terrified - all reported to our doctors, you do the same - with his frenetic, frenzied, fraudulent filings and screaming lies to the judge. A complaint to FTC, one to FL Div. Banking, a good lawyer - needed in FL, not necessary elsewhere - and this jerkxxx dropped his nuisance suit and ran back to his stinking little Palm Beach Cabana-boy Rathole. He wanted us to agree not to countersue him as a condition for his withdrawal. He didn't even wait for that, just ran. He was put up to suing by a poofter lawyer who stole an estate from an elderly relative of mine. The poofter doesn't like me researching and reporting his activities to doctors, cops, and others who will in time clip his little inadequate element of alleged masculinity, and send him to the prison shower. - 'oooh, ahhh, oooh, ahhh' - So he hired this Palm Beach prevaricator to sue me. See what nice people CA's are? They're part of a network of thugs, dope dealers, money launderers, poofter lawyers who steal estates from clients - Right, Mr. Galeezo? I have a nice soap picked out for your first prison shower, sweetie! - I digress, sorry.
Fight them back hard and stay in touch. These lice have many 'friends for life' among those on this board who know just how to spray them with insecticide.
