Just got credit report-AAAAGH!

After reading posts on these boards for a few nights, I got a copy of my credit report. I almost had a heart attack! There is stuff on here that I know i paid, along with stuff that i have serious problems with. I called an ambulance for my Mother-in-Law in 1997 and that is on there. I never even received HER bill. Midland called me at home 3 nights ago-that is why I started reading the board-about an account charged off 5/99. If I am reading this report correctly, they actually re-opened it 3/04. When I told the ca that I was recording the call, he went berzerk! They haven't called back, but after reading the boards, I expect some nasty slimy little tactic any day now. Do I send an SOL or a validation letter first? Any advice is helpful!
