Its only a year old non-revolving, unsecured debt from bank's bill payer service. (they paid a bill which bounced) Instead of redebiting the money the next week, the bill payer sent us letters to pay. My wife went on maternity leave early and money was short. we put it off and put it off until we got the cap1 letter saying it was charged off.

I hate to have this thing on CRA for next six years as we now have house and car loan helping our credit scores. The debt is around $1000 bucks.

I have learned the hard way that even though we may "get away with" $1000 by not paying. We will pay in the end plus some on next interest rates.

Do you think think there is any hope of settling with cap1 and getting a decent trade line for paying it in full (or less). Or is the risk of offering a settlement outweighed by risking a lawsuit.

BTW...(im confused) So is it correct that bill payer service is out of picture and cannot report charge off if hell freezes over and cap1 will negotiate trade line to satisfactory.

TY in advance
