I am astonished someone posted you should file a bankruptcy! That's terrible advice. Don't do that. Demand the debt be proven in writing certified mail. If you cannot or do not wish to deal with the collectors then mail them a certified letter to "cease and decist" all communications.

Auto-deficiency debt is the worst. They take the car, sell it at whole-sale via auction, rarely if ever apply it to the debt and tell you that you owe $12,000 on a car that was sold in auction for $500 ...! And then they place it in collections and get some idiot with an 8th grade education to call your home every day.

Just whatever you do, do not file a bankruptcy. Get a non-published/unlisted phone number, cease and decist, and forget about it. You are not a criminal because you are poor.

FYI: America was created because people in England sought freedom from being imprisoned by the British in "debtors-prisons". Poverty is not a sin, GREED IS!
