That is why I am asking what to get in writing. I would obviously have in a settlement letter in writing that they would balance it at zero and not sell the debt to any third parties. I would also demand dismissal of lawsuit , and a deletion of the tradeline. Is there anything else? The bottom line is this, if I go to court I will have a judgement against me (this is my debt). Even if they are not prepared and I get case thrown out, I will still possibly want a mortgage down road and will need to settle anyway. Better to do it now when I can threaten BK opposed to later when I come to then having to clear it up for a mortgage and them demanding 100%. When everyone says a paid charge off is just as bad as a unpaid charge off that is just not true. Getting the Sherman tl deleted and being able to get a mortgage are the two positives. These aspects I feel are lost on this board. A judgment is a pain in the a%% to deal with, and Im not in the mood to. I just want some more advice on what to demand. Thanks. This debt is recent and about 8k. They wrote a letter saying they would accept 4k. The letter did not meet my specifications (too basic). But again what more should I ask for. Please any insight is desired. Thanks.
