A few years ago I loaned a "friend" some money. At first I received payments then nothing. Recently this person filed Chapter 7 BK and listed me in it.
I do not know much about BK's and how they work but have a couple questions.
First of all- Is there anything I can do or am I basically out of luck?
Second- The person is a long time friend of the family. All along I kept getting fed lines that she was paying me and since I know the family I also talked to them to see if they know anything (the girl had the tendency to skew the truth). She had also said she was getting some money and her mom was going to pick up the money & arrange to get it to me. So I have spoken to this girls mother & grandmother about it. So now she went to the attorney & told him & then I received a letter saying I am violating the automatic stay (I know what that is) for "harrassing" the mother & grandmother (which I was not since and I can guess they would say the same) Anyways- It said if I didn't stop they would file sanctions with the court- Which I don't know exactly what that is.

So to sum up- Do I have any recourse and what are sanctions with the court?

Thanks for the help.
