Would it be a good idea to ask Providian to verify that I owed them the $22?

I mean, they called in April and told me that I owed them $22 in interest and I automatically paid. Do you think it would do any good to ask them to verify that I owed them that amount-- I suppose in hopes that maybe I didn't or it's a mistake on their part or they cabn't get back to me in time and therefore it has to be dropped? Or is my best bet to basically write my letter to Providian begging them to help because of the mistakes made and the fact that it was only $22?
