Money paid to a CA would be more efficiently given directly to dope dealers, pimps, money launderers, mobsters, terrorists, and the community of international gangsters. They are all interconnected crooks.

Just as locking your door automatically reduces the likelihood of burglary by forty percent, having a lawyer by your side 'keeps all parties honest'. It's a polite way of letting the enemy know you have an expert bullshale-detector in your camp, one who can remedy any unpleasantries concocted by OC's and indeed the mutant, syphillitic, open-sore CA pirates.
