In the last two years following a divorce and illness, I have begged, pleaded and gone out of my way to make arrangements to pay off my CC's. I even paid what I could w/o an agreement and harrassing calls b/c I thought it was the decent thing to do (and to try to make it to SOL). Did the CC's listen, did the CA's listen - NO. Some accounts I paid off slowly and steadily but majority got charged off, regardless of my pleas to work it out. I made decent money (50K+) but nope, pay now or die, so to CO my accounts went. Well, I just got a new job and a 15K per year rasie. IF the CA's had just given me a chance (with my previous unblemsihed credit) when hard times came, I could pay them all back hence forth. Well, here we are - money and Co's that won't move if I do pay off. What irony - why can't they get most people Want to pay and will do so as soon as they can?
