I live in Austin, Texas. I got behind on my credit card bills after my mother became ill. One credit card bill is over $40,000 with MBNA. I sold my house in Texas but I have very little equity after paying off the medical bills. I own a small apartment in another state. Can creditors put a lien against property in another state or another country (my sister has a house in Mexico but it's under my name). Is my property protected in other states since I defaulted in Texas?

Thanks in advance. You all are great.
