The 30 day bar for pursuing collections actions upon initial contact does not apply to filing suit. They can file suit at any time. Basically, the FTC considers the filing of a complaint as a legal right and NOT collections activity.

However, sending a complaint to you without a summons is a scare tactic. Until you actually receive a summons WITH a case number, it doesn't count.
