Send refusal of arbitration letter. I will give you the link. Do it ASAP. certified/return receipt. Unfortunately, many people are lead to believe that their problems are over when they sign with a debt consolidation company such as the one you signed with. That just isn't the case, they give people a false sense of "everything will be fine" and a lot of people do get sued this way.
When you sign with one of these companies, the CA sees that there is money to be had, and is much more likely to sue.
Yes, they can do this, they did. Send the refusal letter and stop paying Uniuted Debt Counseling.
