I have been sweating it out for the past almost four years, waiting for several CC accounts to reach the 4-yr. SOL. From what I have read on this board, I take it that the 4yr. SOL (I live in Pennsylvania) starts when the OC charges-off the account. I have noticed that the date that some of my OC's have used on my credit report as the charge-off date, doesn't coincide with my last payment date. I have kept all my original statements from OC's and I can verify the last date I paid, and the first time after that I started being charged late fees. For what I've read here, I understand that the first time after you missed your first payment and were charged a late fee is the beginning of your 180 day charge-off period for the OC. For example, my last payment was on Aug. 10, 2000, and the following month, late fee charges began appearing on my statement. For the next six months, I continued to receive billing statements with late fee charges on them. According to my statements, the charge-off date for this account should have been Feb. 10, 2001 and not March 10, 2001 as OC reported. It is very important that I know exactly what is what because I don't want to jump the gun and send this CA that's been relentlessly bothering me for sometime now, a SOL letter sooner than is appropriate. I've flown this long under the radar and sure don't want to mess things up now. Thanks.
