This is a copy of a letter that I faxed to them on July 24, 2004. I have been battling with these people for years and now they have affected my future plans. They always promise, but never deliver. Please read this and make note. Pass this on. I have deleted certain sections of this letter, because it contained personal information.

To Whom It May Concern:
I ordered a rug from FingerHut about 12 years ago. When I got the rug, it was not the correct one. Also, it had a few defects in it. I called the company and asked them if I could ship it back to them. They agreed and said that I would not be charged the amount of the rug. Somehow there was a mix up and my account was given to your collection agency and marked as unpaid. This is ridiculous.
FingerHut did not send me any notices that my account was unpaid. Then, I started getting letters from a collection agency. When I called your collection agency, the person I spoke with told me not to worry and that the matter would be taken care of. Months down the road, I received notices that my account was put into dispute over the rug. Is that what they meant by being taken care of? So, I called your collection agency, and the lady said that I had to send in the original receipt from the post office from 12 years ago. I mailed the original receipt from the post office, proving that I had paid for it to be shipped back.
Also, I called FingerHut, because I sent them a copy of the original receipt proving that it was sent back. A lady from the office said she received it and that it would be taken care of. Obviously, someone at that company did not do their job.
When I contacted your collection agency back in May of this year, someone from your office assured me it would be removed from my record. I had my credit report run, because I wanted to purchase a house with my fiancé, and the account still showed that it was in dispute. Now, we are about to close on our home on Monday or Tuesday, and this matter is still not resolved. I have been calling your office for years!!! Who do I need to talk to in the office that can help me? I have given you all the copies that I have from the post office. You should have the original. It has been almost twelve years now, and I do not have this type of information anymore. Most people would have had this type of problem reported by now! I am a victim and I will no longer let this be a problem for me. I am ready to take legal action and report it to the Attorney General’s office.
This is very frustrating. It has gone on for way too long now. I want this matter to be resolved. It is now affecting my future plans and I do not plan on paying for something that I returned to Fingerhut. Furthermore, it was your office that guaranteed me that this matter would be resolved right away. I want this matter dealt with as soon as possible. I have never had a problem with a collection agency. All my bills are paid on time. It is to my understanding, that your office has been reported before. I would really appreciate it if you could straighten out my account. My loan officer will need a signed statement from the collection agency stating that I do not owe this amount. Her fax number is: ATT: Judy **********. She will need this information by Monday morning.
Please contact me on Monday, July 26, 2004. My phone number is **********. I need you to contact me as soon as possible because we are trying to close on our home. This matter is prolonging our close date. I appreciate your time.
Sincerely,
Christie
