I have lived in Florida for 12 years. I defaulted on Citibank a little over 4 years ago. The agreement I signed was that I would make monthly payments so I would not have to go to court. If I miss any payments, the lawsuit can be opened again. I also got charged $300 for attorneys' fees. I really got screwed over my ignorance. I wish I researched all of this rather than blindly dial the phone after I was served.
