If you paid IN FULL, and have a receipt or letter to that effect, and have had proof that whomever you paid had authorization to collect, then yes, go ahead and dispute.

The problems arise when an account is within SOL, has been "settled" for less than the full amount, or been "paid" to an unauthorized collector.

The CRA is not allowed to report obviously incorrect data, duplicate entries are incorrect.

In general, you should NEVER dispute an entry as "paid" or "settled" as that will cement it to your reports.
