There will be nothing on record until the property is paid off and a deed issued and recorded, (this assumes of course that the "land seller" is legitimate, has title to the property, and will perform). Drew is mistaken about your liability in a Community property State. The law of a Com. Prop State are applicable in a divorce action, not in a debt judgment. It IS easier for a creditor who has obtained a judgment to freeze a joint bank account in a Community property State -this requires a disclsure to the Court as to proof of whose $$ are whose in a joint account. The ONLY other possible risk would have been if your wife use any of her credit cards to buy "neccessities" for the joint household, such as medical services or NEEDED home repairs. In any case, you are mistaken about her FICO score, I believe the lowest possible is 400. If her accounts were charged off over 3 & 1/2 years ago,she should send the SOL letter from my website to the collection agencies( after opting out and deleting old addresses)
