I've done this before. I had a really bad experience during once phone conversation with the CA. The OC had me set up a payment arrangement for the first 3 payments. After that they took the account back from the CA. They later offered me a settlement and I ended up not paying the amt they had originally listed on my report. I also disputed the CA on my report because I was paying the OC. The CA was then rmvd from all but Equifax. But Equifax included my consumer statement that my payments were being sent to the OC and how to contact them. But paying the charge off does not increase your score. I understand what you're saying, though.
