We had this same problem in the late 1990s. I started sending my payment Express Mail, where I could easily track it on the Internet. The mortgage company would call me on the 5th or 6th of the month and ask where the payment was, and I could tell them the exact time and day it was delivered....well before the due date of the 1st. It turned out that it was not the mortgage company that delayed posting, but rather the service that they used to handle those transactions. I must not have been the only one having problems, because several months later, and after the same routine of them calling me early in the month and me telling them when the payment was received, they sent a letter telling us they were switching to another company to handle payments. After that time, we had no more trouble. If your mortgage company has an Internet site, you might be able to make a payment there. We've been paying that way since our company went on-line, and I can pay it any time before midnight when it is due the next day, and it has always posted promptly. I wish you luck, because it seems as if once they "think" they have received a payment late, it snowballs from there, and no matter what proof you have, they don't want to listen.
