I did this not too long ago with several private bank loans which were showing as paid/closed. I contacted EQUIFAX and asked to have all these entries removed. I have since trusted the wrong people (HA!, some friend you were Joshua Dobos) and destroyed my credit, but it seemed as though this might have been a mistake (removing the paid/closed entries) as once those entries were removed and the bad judgements that led to the destruction of my credit, I now have a CR which only shows the bad and none of the good. Please do not let my experience change your mind about doing this, but if I had it to do over (besides not trusting the wrong friend) I would contact the CRA directly and SPEAK with someone to find out if removing these entries is a good idea.
