I have an old balance outstanding with The Associates....last fall when refinancing something called S&P capital investment came up on credit report......with the associates as original creditor...
never heard from s&p this was the first i knew of it.
anyway........the account is past sol......the 7 year reporting is up in october....anyway got a letter from ERS that they bought acct.......by this time i had found this site so i sent why chats validation past SOL letter and never hear back........but S&P cotinues to report this with the CRA's .......i have disputed to no avail.........even sent letter to S&P........now i got a letter from Midland that they bought the acct.....i sent the why chat letter but havent heard back yet.......BUT S&P is still reporting this.......plus they have doubled the amount.....and re-aged the account
They have the date opened as 12/02 when it was back in 1994 that i truly opened the acct
they report it as reported since 1/2003 when in fact this has been on my credit report since probably 1995......when it was in good standing with OC at that time. it went 30 past due back in 1996 or 1997 i think. i know i made the last payment in 3/98
anyway we are refinancing again and the mortgage lender is trying to get me to pay S&P even though i have explained all this to him......he says it is legal for them to re-age if they bought the acct.
is this true. i thought not.
beyond disputing with the CRA's and disputing directly with S&P what can i do to get this off my report? I suppose now that midland has purchased it they will also report on it?
i am at a loss.
