If the debt is yours and it is within SOL, you would be unwise to send them a validation letter. It would signal to them that you are wanting to protect your credit and it would more than likely tick them off and they will sue.

The only reason you should send a validation letter if it is within SOL is if there is a genuine dispute with the account itself or if the account is not yours. Other than that, you will just anger them and make the more determined to nail you.
