Rule # 1. Never talk to bill collectors. Rule # 2. See Rule #2 My understanding of the Federal law is that the original telephone communication MUST be followed up by written communication of debt, including the mini-miranda. For 600 debt to get that large would involve usury- which is illegal. These "lawyers" may be buying bad debt themselves- Read-read-read on this forum. GO to WhyChats website and read. You may find the answer you need. In the meantime, consider this- it probably costs around $300 just to file a lawsuit- to collect a 600 debt ? Doesn't make sense, does it? Plus, if you fight back (and you will)- they will have to answer everything you file and show up in court. Stop talking to them- don;t answer the phone. You can only get hurt if you talk to them.
