I am in the process of going ahead with BK. I have consulted with some lawyers and it looks good. Should I stop paying on the cards now or wait until I actually file? I can't file until I can pay the filing fee and a down payment to the lawyer, and I can't do that unless I quit paying on the cards. I am paying almost $500 a month on the minimum payments and this would be enough for the lawyer to get the ball moving. What happens if you quit before filing?
