I think its a good idea to have a simple answering machine with a messages like "We are unable to answer the phone right now, please leave a message and we will get back to you soon."
Nothing else, no names, dont confirm the number, nothing.

This way the CA can vent or leave a message. One of my friends turned off the phone so it just rang and the CA ended up finding her work number and called her there. I get several calls a day, some from machines and some from crafty CA's (Mr So and So, call us today we have wonderful news for you!) and they always get my answering machine and they seem happy with it.

CA's think if they can at least leave a message they have done something productive and its a contact. So I let them have that much.
