Telephone bill

Back in January of 97 i had a telephone bill from Sprint in North Carolina that i forgot to pay. It was about $378. I moved out of state to ohio and received a letter from debt recovery, now after almost 7 years later. I was wondering am i still responsible and if not what should i put in a letter to tell them.
