We've had this account for 2 years. Last Dec they reviewed it and didn't like our debt to income ratio and reduced the limit. No problem as far as I was concerned, but then in Jan. they tried to extort a $700.00 payment on top of the regular payment (I paid $200 not the min). "Just to prove we are capable of paying our bills." The timing was bad - just after Christmas and we had also just paid 6 months of car insurance premiums for 4 cars. We didn't give in to their demand. No this. Are they in financial trouble that they have to hassle the good customers.
