When was the last time you paid the original creditor before the account became deliquent? NC has a short SOL, so this might be passed the SOL, in which you send them the SOL letter.

The CA purchased the account for pennie on the dollar. They do and I am sure they have continued to add interest. There is never a good reason to pay a CA. The thing to do, is stop paying, and protect assets.
