J Kelley is absolutely correct, EXCEPT on the bank account part.

DO NOT have any joint account with your husband, CLOSE any joint account you may NOW have and have him open an INDIVIDUAL account, and YOU can open EITHER an individual account with VERY LITTLE in it,or a joint account with someone else (a trusted family member) as PRIMARY on the account.(their name is first).

Tx is a community property State, and any account you have jointly with you husband MAY be frozen.

Unless your car is worth a LOT of $$, it is safe from seizure.
