couple questions before filing BK

I am in the process of getting all of my info. together to file for BK. I have been on this site and a few others and some questions come to mind. First, the trustee. What exactly does this person do? My case is pretty simple, I don't own anything but an old car and I see in my state that is exempt. Is the trustee going to want to know about furniture, TV, etc.? Nothings worth anything. Second, about 4 years my name was put on my parents bank account so in case anything happened to them, I'd be able to get the money out if needed. I can not write checks or anything and do not have power of attorney. I have never put money in or taken it out of their bank. I forgot all about it until now, quite frankly. Do I need to report this? It is in no way my money.
