here in texas..we have ONE sheriff. he would never be so lowly as to serve papers. he really doesnt do anything that i can see. deputies do...uniformed ..or constables...or some are just process servers and dress civie in the cities.. check the patch on the shirt..it will say what branch..what city or county...etc. all the badges will say sheriffs office.
