A 341 meeting or AKA meeting of the creditors is a MANDATORY thing for YOU!!!!! It should be the ONLY appearance you have to make (unless there are probs with it!) If your lawyer has never heard of it before, I would have to look around for another one. If your lawyer is saying you don't have to be there, maybe he is trying to get extra $$ out of you. Because mine charges $100 each time you miss one and it needs to be rescheduled. Once you file, the courts WILL send you something telling you the date and time and what to bring. It is MANDATORY, so don't let a lawyer tell you it is not.
Our BK ran us $910--$210 filing fees and the rest to the lawyer. The whole process is very easy and you will rest much easier once the filing has gone through!
