The amount of the debt and the circumstances required before a lawsuit becomes a possibility depends on the CA and the law firm it hires. I can guarantee you that there are people on this very board who have been sued for far less. Just ran across a case in my area that was for $275, so you can't draw conclusions like that.

It usually depends on a combination of how much money is involved, how old the debt is, and how many recoverable assets you have (or the CA *thinks* you have).
