I don't think that the day after you marry someone with good credit, their score drops, but what will happen is any time you apply for a joint account, creditors can deny your application because of your credit. If your spouse makes really good money, however, they will usually ignore your credit score and approve the application. As long as you make sure you never let any 30+ days late from happening on those joint accounts, your credit score will improve and the period of time when you had troubles will be less and less important even if they haven't been dropped of your CRs. At least this is how things went for my sister and bro in law. They had the same situation as yours. My sis defaulted on federal education loans, got married, straightened out the mess, then bought a house with interest at the prime lending rate, all in less than 7 years.
