Doom is impending

Well I am in due in court next week for a lawsuit filed a bit back. A CA law firm in ILL is bringing the suit. It is well in the statute of limitations and is for like 8k. I guess I am going to have to go and face the music as I couldnt settle with them. I figure though if I have a judgment and am judgment proof I will just file BK anyway. Any last words of advice on how I can either get them to dismiss this case or how I should present myself in court. This is from a credit card that I filled out an application online and I doubt the scumbag CA dont have my signature. The only problem is I sent them a settlement offer a few months ago and I got a feeling they will throw that in my face. It is pretty bleak, but I think BK will be best. I just hate the fact I will have a judgment on record also.
