This sounds like something that is probably passed the SOL. Probably a CA who bought your old account for less than pennies on the dollar. They have no legal recourse. Don't worry about them. What state are you in. Post your state so that we can check for the SOL. If you happen to be in a state with a 6 year SOL, then the difference between 6 and 7 years is significant. BUT, the fact that they are offering you a low ball settlement is indication that you are passed the SOL. IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER NEGATIVES THAT ARE WITHIN THE SOL, YOU SHOULD IGNORE THEM.
