This is somewhat off topic. Quite a few of my collection accounts are for medical bills. Most of them stem from my pregnancy and the birth of my son in 2002. Our insurance carrier at the time was Blue Cross Blue Shield and I had 100% maternity coverage. I met the deductable by making monthly payments to my doctor. Once the baby was born though, Blue Cross refused to pay any of his hospital bill or first dr. visit because his name wasn't on the policy at the time of his birth. WHAT??!!! How the hell could his name be on the policy when he hadn't even been born yet. We've argued with them and even had the CA calling them on our behalf. The CA lady said that was the most ridiculous story she'd ever heard too and couldn't believe they weren't paying the bill. But still, they haven't paid and I've got collections all over the place for those bills now. But my husband told both Blue Cross and the CA that they'll never see a penny of it from us because we don't owe it. So (I'll get to my question now! lol), does anyone know where we can go with this now? It's absolutely insane that Blue Cross can get away with this. I've tried looking at the state website to file a complaint but can't find anywhere to do that. Do I need to get a lawyer onto this? The bill was about $2000.
