I do not live in Colorado but I know in some states you can settle a debt and pay monthly payments after you have been sued. The lawyers usually have the debtor sign a "consent judgment" though. Not sure you want to do that. But I don't know thatthey would be understanding if times got hard for you again. And then they would have the paperwork showing you consented to the judgment---garnishment city.
